Lethargic Dog or Cat: When Should You Worry?
Lethargy is one of the most common — and most easily missed — signs that a pet is unwell. Cats and
dogs tend to hide pain, so even a small change in energy is worth paying attention to.
Normal tiredness or a sign of illness?
A pet who sleeps more after a busy day of play, after a vaccine, or on a hot day usually bounces back quickly. What to watch for is tiredness that's unusual for your pet, lasts a long time, or comes with other symptoms.
Check these things
Is your pet still eating and drinking?
Any vomiting, diarrhea, or coughing?
How is their breathing — normal, fast, or heavy panting?
What colour are their gums — the usual pink, or pale/bluish?
Are they peeing and pooping as usual?
Could they have swallowed something toxic, overheated, or recently had a vaccine?

Is weak after possible poisoning
Suddenly weakens with facial swelling or hives, for example after a vaccine or insect sting
Can't pee, especially male cats

Lethargy comes with repeated vomiting or vomiting blood
Lethargy comes with not eating for more than 24 hours
